RRD Wave Twin 2010

The new RRD twin fin boards are the boards to choose if you are serious about your waveriding! They feature wide and thick noses which allow you to use the whole rail during a carve, narrow tails which aid with manoeverability and high speed control and a full concave into double concave bottom shapes with flat tails which helps the boards get going super early. They make it much easier to get more vertical during your waverides, even in non-perfect, onshore conditions. We would suggest them if you are serious about your riding and happy to own a riding-biased wave board. If you are more keen on jumping than riding, you may be better off with a Wave Cult.
RRD has been really successful with their twinfin range - the boards are easy to sail and work exceptionally well in onshore conditions.
The biggest difference between a twin fin and a single fin board is the advantage in wave riding. The twin fin will allow you to turn on a wave face from bottom to top turn in a more extreme way that only real experts can get out of their single fin boards.
The trade off you make when you use a twin fin compared to a single fin is that you lose a little bit of drive as you are going out through the waves and you have to be more concious to drive the board "off the wind" to get planing.
This trade off, you will find is so worth it, when you start waveriding and you cannot believe how good this is in onshore conditions.

RRD Wave Extreme Thruster 2010

This is a new board for 2010 from RRD - it is a Wave Thruster, so a tri-fin board.
The concept behind this board is a loose wave riding machine - the tri-fin set up is a very popular surfing design so the centre fin is slightly smaller than a traditional single fin board. The two thruster, side fins give you extra grip when you are turning.
The board is only available in the Limited, lightweight epoxy construction.
The thrusters are slightly towed in, not as much though as a normal surfboard

RRD Wave Cult X-Tech and Hardcore 2010

The Wave Cult X-Tech offers great potential, especially in choppy waters and onshore wind.
The good jumping and sliding to provide for more fun in the waves. The nose and tail outline is rounder and wider for even easier surfing in all conditions.
The underwater hull is more supple for easier carving performance.
The Wave Cult X-tech has the greatest potential to be used in a variety of wave conditions, especially in choppy onshore conditions.
The Wave Cult Hardcore is a faster, looser board than the Cult - if you are looking for something that will work really well in UK onshore and cross-shore conditions the HC will certainly fit the bill!
It's single concave hull shape eats through the chop and when you are waveriding you will find it has a higher performance level than a Cult. In our view it has more "pop", jumps high and is a fantastic waveriding tool.
Available in X-tech construction with Dakine footstraps and MFC fin.

RRD Wave Cult X-Tech and Hardcore 2010
RRD Freestyle Wave X-Tech 2010

The Freestyle Wave has been one of RRD's most popular board ranges - and the reason it is really popular, is that it works so well in both flat water and choppy conditions. RRD have launched five new shapes for 2010 - the 85, 91, 96, 101 and 111. The 75 and 120 are the same as 2009.
The X-Tech construction is about three quarters of a kilo heavier than the Limited version of the same board but the X-Tech has been improved over 2009 and feels lighter and stiffer. X-Tech is an epoxy glass sandwich with SX42 high density foam with wood veneer top and bottom and a bi-axel glass fabrication.
A new hull design with a full V, and without any deep concaves, just minor concaves in the middle, ensures the V is really flat. The rocker line is a bit higher in the front and straighter in the middle point between the front foot and the back foot strap. This allows the boards to feel more exciting and throwabout just like wave boards and perform many more moves. The feeling as soon as you touch the water is like having a really small and compact wave board but at the same time an increased planing capacity compared to last year.
The new shapes are faster and looser than the previous Freestyle Waves - they have a real smooth handling feel but with some extra "grunt" to blow your buddy off the water and still have that really nice feel jumping in the air! RRD has really concentrated on this boards performance for 2010, it is a combination of a board that is still good for basic freestyle moves; a good blasting board and still fits in for someone who wants a board to take into the waves.
