Dive Rite TransPac Harness

Inspired by a remote dive exploration in Japan where divers had to hike their heavy gear through dry portions of cave to get to the underwater sumps. The explorers also needed the versatility to switch their gear configuration from backmount to sidemount to single tanks (flexibility that a traditional hard backplate does not offer). Designed like a mountaineer’s backpack, the TransPac disperses weight across the hips and back, minimizing shoulder strain. Adjustable straps adapt to a wide variety of exposure suits and means easy donning and doffing. A soft backplate accommodates sidemount diving, yet gives appropriate support for single tanks, double tanks or rebreathers. Slots in the backplate fit standard 36-inch cam straps (included) for single tank diving. The modular design allows for customization using an assortment of pockets and accessories, depending on the needs and desires of the individual diver.

Dive Rite Wings
Dive Rite Aluminium Backplate

Invented by Greg Flanagan in 1979 for North Florida cave divers. Greg realized that a back-mounted buoyancy system gives a diver natural balance in the water, due to the diver's center of gravity (tanks) being surrounded by the center of buoyancy (BC/ wings). In addition, the diver gains a clean chest area with room for gear attachment points on the harness. Bill Hogarth Main went on to popularize the backplate and harness and dive purists who follow the DIR philosophy have come to embrace what is known today as the "Hogarthian Rig". Dive Rite began manufacturing backplates for the public in 1984 and pioneered 11-inch on center bolt spacing creating an industry standard that is still followed today. Sturdy, yet lightweight, the aluminum backplate is ideal for twin backmounted steel tanks since additional weight from the plate is not necessary.

Dive Rite Stainless Steel Backplate
Dive Rite 1" Crotch Strap

Preferred by most divers for its general comfort, the 1-inch crotch strap is ideal for fastening a harness and backplate securely to a diver's body. By using a crotch strap, divers can reduce the likelihood of their gear slipping upwards on the body in the water, resulting in the tank hitting the back of the head during a dive. Nylon webbing provides strength, yet is soft and won't dig into the body. The 1-inch (25mm) crotch strap comes with a slide release buckle and scooter ring for divers who scooter and want the convenience of a crotch strap that can be adjusted easily.
Price: £7.95

Dive Rite 1
Dive Rite 2" Crotch Strap

Preferred by divers who use scooters (DPVs) for extended periods of time due to the added comfort the 2-inch width provides. Used for fastening a harness and backplate securely to a diver's body, the 2-inch crotch strap is used to reduce the likelihood of gear slipping upwards on the body in the water, resulting in the tank hitting the back of the head during a dive. Continuous piece of nylon webbing provides strength, yet is soft and won't dig into the body. Includes a neoprene sleeve to protect exposure suit from abrasion.
Price: £16.95

Dive Rite 2
Dive Rite Stabilising Plates

The stainless steel TransPac Stabilizing Plates firmly secure a TransPac to any set of double tanks that use industry-standard bands and bolts. They are curved to fit the spacing of double tanks, and are the only item needed to connect a TransPac harness and a wing to a set of double tanks (a hard backplate is not needed). The TransPac harness and the wing end up being sandwiched between the double tanks and the Stabilizing Plates, with the Stabilizing Plates functioning like large washers. Sold as a pair.

Dive Rite Thigh Pocket with Daisy Chain

Part of our new line of harness accessory pockets that builds upon technology from the backpacking industry. Each pocket includes daisy chain webbing on the external pocket for clipping Z-knives, trauma shears or any tool that you need in easy reach. Our new Thigh Pocket includes an innovative leg band made of a proprietary material used in bandages. The material holds up to salt water and dries quickly, plus silicone strips placed on the inside of the band grip your exposure suit and keep the leg band in place. At 4-inches in width (10 cm), the new leg band will be comfortable and secure. The pocket is attached via a buckle on the waist belt, allowing a diver to don or doff the thigh pocket without having to unbuckle the waist belt and slide the pocket off.
